Transformation of Rural Systems into Sustainable Urban Systems. The booklet seeks to present a range of practical strategies for incorporating rural landscape structures into the urban planning body of Indian cities – through diagrams, plans and sketches. As more and more people migrate into cities, the focus of the development agenda has shifted to cities as well. Although most people still live in rural or semi-rural conditions, the city, powered by technology and finance, is seen as our best hope for a better future. The booklet presents examples which show how issues of nature conservation and energy saving do not have to impede economic development, but can actually help to create jobs and reduce overall urban development costs.
