Nestled on the slopes of the Sahyadris, the FLAME designed by Rajeev Kathpalia arises as a testament to man’s ever increasing need to be in touch with nature. This educational institution believes in the process that learning extends beyond the classroom into encounters with nature, people and life. Conceived as a place of ‘liberal education’, the approach to design in itself gives impetus to lateral learning. FLAME is designed as a university town, envisaged with bustling streets, cultural centres and social amenities, to foster spontaneous learning. The book contains sketches by architect Rajeev Kathpalia, architectural drawings and illustrative photographs of the University campus.
